Manufacturing

Digital Birth Certificates™ for every product, Digital Twins™, smart warranties, recall intelligence, and end-to-end traceability from factory to consumer.

Section 1

Overview

What is it?

IDFlow for Manufacturing creates a digital identity for every product at the moment of manufacture — a Digital Birth Certificate™. Every product has a Digital Twin™ that tracks its entire lifecycle from factory to end-of-life.

What does it do?

Manufacturers can track every product, manage warranties automatically, execute targeted recalls, detect counterfeits, and provide full traceability — all through a single platform that integrates with factory systems.

Why was it created?

Manufacturing suffers from poor traceability, manual warranty management, broad and costly recalls, counterfeit products, and disconnected supply chains. IDFlow was created to bring digital trust and visibility to every product ever made.

Who is it designed for?

Manufacturers of vehicles, electronics, pharmaceuticals, aircraft, marine vessels, food products, industrial equipment, and consumer goods.

Section 2

Current Industry Problems

1.

Products cannot be traced from factory to consumer — supply chains are opaque

2.

Warranties are paper-based, easily lost, and difficult to manage

3.

Recalls are broad and expensive — manufacturers can't identify which specific products are affected

4.

Counterfeit products flood the market, damaging brands and endangering consumers

5.

Quality control records are paper-based and difficult to access

6.

Supply chain partners cannot share information securely

7.

No way to verify a product's authenticity after purchase

8.

Product lifecycle events (repairs, transfers, disposal) are not tracked

9.

Regulatory compliance is manual and paper-heavy

10.

Carbon footprint and sustainability data is not tracked

Section 3

How IDFlow Solves These Problems

3.

Smart Warranties™ activate automatically based on rules (sale date, installation, activation)

4.

Recall Intelligence™ enables targeted recalls by specific batch, component, or serial range

5.

Counterfeit Detection through public verification — anyone can verify a product's authenticity

6.

Digital Product Passport™ stores all product information, certifications, and compliance documents

7.

Quality inspections are recorded digitally and linked to each product

8.

Supply chain partners share information through secure APIs

9.

Carbon footprint and sustainability data are tracked for every product

Section 4

How It Works

1

Product is manufactured — factory system sends data to IDFlow via the Factory API™

↓
2

IDFlow creates a Digital Birth Certificate™ with a unique Asset ID

↓
3

Product is shipped — logistics partner records the event in the Digital Twin™

↓
4

Product is sold — retailer records the sale, warranty activates automatically

↓
5

Customer registers the product — links it to their IDFlow identity

↓
6

Product needs service — service centre records the event in the Digital Twin™

↓
7

Defect detected — Recall Intelligence™ identifies the exact affected products

↓
8

Targeted recall issued — only affected customers are notified

↓
9

Product reaches end of life — disposal is recorded for sustainability tracking

Real-World Example

A car manufacturer discovers a defect in a specific batch of fuel pump relays.

1

Manufacturer identifies the defect through quality control data

2

Recall Intelligence™ identifies the exact component batch: FP-REL-2026-Q2

3

The system traces every product that uses this component — 45 vehicles, not 100,000

4

Each affected vehicle's owner receives a targeted recall notification

5

Owner books a recall repair at their nearest service centre

6

Service centre replaces the component and records it in the Digital Twin™

7

Recall status updates automatically — manufacturer tracks progress in real time

8

Only 45 vehicles are recalled instead of 100,000 — saving millions

Frequently Asked Questions

What is a Digital Birth Certificate™?
It's a digital record created at the exact moment a product is manufactured. It contains the product's unique Asset ID, manufacturing date, factory, production line, components, and quality inspection results.
What is a Digital Twin™?
A Digital Twin™ is a digital replica of a physical product that tracks its entire lifecycle — manufacture, shipping, sale, service, transfers, and disposal. It's a complete, permanent history of the product.
How do targeted recalls work?
Recall Intelligence™ traces the defective component to specific batches and serial numbers. Only the affected products are recalled — not every product ever made. This saves manufacturers millions.
Can consumers verify product authenticity?
Yes. Anyone can scan a product's QR code or enter its Asset ID on IDFlow to verify its authenticity. Counterfeit products won't have a valid Digital Birth Certificate™.
How do Smart Warranties™ work?
Warranties activate automatically based on rules you set — when the product is sold, installed, or activated. No paper warranty cards. The warranty is linked to the product's Digital Twin™ permanently.
What is the Factory API™?
It's an API that connects your factory systems (SAP, Oracle, MES, PLC controllers) to IDFlow. Products are registered automatically as they come off the production line.
Can the system handle millions of products?
Yes. IDFlow is designed for enterprise-scale manufacturing. The Factory API™ can handle millions of registrations per day.
What is a Digital Product Passport™?
It's a complete digital record of a product — specifications, certifications, compliance documents, components, carbon footprint, and lifecycle history. It's required by new EU sustainability regulations.
How does component traceability work?
For new products manufactured after IDFlow adoption, major components can be registered at the factory — supplier, batch, serial number, installation date. For existing products already in service, IDFlow integrates with existing operational systems via API rather than requiring re-registration of decades of component data. IDFlow provides the trusted identity and audit layer that connects to existing systems — it does not replace them.
Does IDFlow replace our existing operational systems?
No. IDFlow's philosophy is integration-first: IDFlow should not replace specialised operational systems. It provides the trusted identity, consent, verification, and audit layer that connects them. Airlines, hospitals, banks, manufacturers, and governments can continue using the systems they already rely on while gaining a common, trusted layer for identity, accountability, and secure data sharing.
Can supply chain partners access the data?
Yes, with controlled access. Logistics partners, retailers, and service centres can record lifecycle events in the Digital Twin™ through secure APIs.
What happens when a product is sold?
The sale is recorded in the Digital Twin™. The warranty activates automatically. The buyer can register the product to their IDFlow identity for warranty and recall notifications.
How are service records tracked?
When a product is serviced, the service centre records the work in the Digital Twin™ — parts replaced, labour, diagnostic reports. This creates a permanent service history.
Can I track carbon footprint?
Yes. Carbon footprint data is captured at each lifecycle stage — manufacture, shipping, use. This supports sustainability reporting and carbon credit trading.
What industries does this work for?
Any manufacturing industry — automotive, electronics, pharmaceuticals, aircraft, marine, food, industrial equipment, and consumer goods. If it's manufactured, IDFlow can track it.
What does it cost?
Manufacturers subscribe to the Enterprise plan, with volume-based pricing for the Factory API™. The cost is offset by savings from targeted recalls, automated warranties, and reduced counterfeiting.
